20% time blog post 4

Currently I have been asking my family, friends, and even my neighbors if they know what Deja Vu is. I have gotten a lot of yes's! I asked 13 people and 12 of them said they  have experienced and or know what it is. Next over Christmas break I am going to put a video together of a few interviews with people. I am continuing my research and will include it in the video.

So long, Sears: The last location in WNY set to close

For the first time in 90 years, Western New York will be without a Sears department store. The Sears store at McKinley Mall will close by February, Sears said Thursday. The store's closing sale will begin on Dec. 2. The closing of the McKinley store will wipe the iconic chain off the local map and will leave the struggling McKinley Mall with a giant vacancy – the third department store anchor there to turn out the lights in recent years. Sears no longer has enough money to keep stories open and running and with the new closings happening the final one closed in Buffalo NY.

2nd 20% blog

  1. What have you accomplished? I have gotten many different views and definitions of what deja vu is and how it works.
  2. What questions do you have? I just want to know what part of the brain it works in.
  3. What challenges have you come across? Not too much tbh it is all going smooth and I am happy so far.
  4. What are your goals for next week? I want to start the survey about deja vu and see if people know what it is and if they have had it. I was also thinking about doing an In The Halls sort of thing for it.

20% Time Blog

For my 20% time I choose to study Deja Vu. For the first few weeks I studied it and tried to get the right definition of Deja Vu. Google says that deja vu "is the feeling that one has lived through the present situation before. The phrase translates literally as "already seen". Although some interpret déjà vu in a paranormal context, mainstream scientific approaches reject the explanation of déjà vu as "precognition" or "prophecy". I have had many encounters with deja vu and let me tell you it is weird. You feel like you have already lived something before. Within the next few weeks I will be asking people if they have had and experienced deja vu before. I will then get the amount of people that have had it and ask them about it.

Hackers hover near online shopping carts, too. It's called e-skimming

We all know we need to be on the lookout for skimming devices that crooks install at the ATM or at the pump at gas stations. We now have to watch out for hackers online when we are shopping. The hackers are trying to steal our credit card and debit card information. So they can steal your money. This is not a good thing obviously.  Cyber criminals are getting our data in real time, which can make that information more valuable in the underground market. "It's fresh credit card data that's being exfiltrated," said an FBI special agent on the cyber task force. So, overall this is not a good thing and bad for the credit card and you.

Walmart Hits the Reset Button on a Big Part of Its E-Commerce Strategy

Walmart is making some big changes to its e-commerce strategy. When Walmart's head of U.S. e-commerce Marc Lore joined the retailer after it bought Jet.com, he made a series of acquisitions. Lore's shopping spree was focused on digitally native brands including Bonobos, ModCloth, and Eloquii. Walmart was all set to hit a home room with this new e-commerce strategy but it all went south. Walmart is set to lose 1 billion dollars just this year only. Walmart needs to find a new strategy and get out of the one they are in before the lose so much money. Walmart is going to be in some serious trouble if they can't fix themselves.

https://www.thedrum.com/news/2019/09/12/mondelez-breaks-voice-activated-e-commerce-with-amazon-alexa

This article is pretty cool lol. Oreo is making a mystery Oreo and it is a mystery oreo and to get the news out about it they made a deal with Amazon. So if people ask their Amazon Alexa "Alexa, what's new with oreo?" it will respond with the latest news about the brand, including new flavor launches and product innovations. This helps oreo get news out about their product so they sell more oreos and make more money.
